If you’re spending your first summer in Phoenix, chances are you’re going to find yourself longing for cool weather as the temperatures really start to heat up. While you’re not likely to be able to stop the mercury from rising, you can find some great ways to beat the heat and enjoy some serious fun in the process.
Cool Getaways
There are some excellent places to go to take Phoenix vacations that provide a great way to cool down. You might even decide to summer vacation away from it all and cool off in an entirely new environment. Some of the best ways to beat the heat in Phoenix and elsewhere include:
Tubing – The Phoenix area is home to some incredible tubing and white water rafting opportunities. This is an excellent way to beat the heat while enjoying the Arizona landscape in the process. For a really challenging experience, consider travelling to nearby Mesa for a trip down the Salt River.
Water parks – Arizona is home to more than a few water parks. From Water World Safari to Big Surf, there is plenty of water action to help you cool down and beat the heat. If you want to leave Arizona behind for a few days, you’ll find water parks are hot attractions all over the country.
Las Vegas – While the weather isn’t that much cooler, the casinos of Las Vegas provide a great summer vacation getaway for Phoenix residents. It’s true the gambling action is hot, but the temperatures indoors are quite cool.
The beaches of California – No, you won’t find oceanfront property in Arizona, but you will in nearby California. If getting away from it all is desired, this is an excellent way to go. Just don’t count on weather that is too cool as your soaking up the sun on a California beach.
Alaska – If you really want to get away from it all this summer and take in some cool weather in the process, a trip to Alaska in the summer is a great way to go. Nothing compares to the sights found in this remote and distinctly chilly state.
Cruises – Getting out and really getting away from it all is more than possible when a cruise vacation is on tap. While you’ll have to travel to California to catch a ship, the fun will be worth the effort.
Summer vacation for many Phoenix apartment dwellers often involves a plan that centers on beating the heat. You’re going to find there are plenty of opportunities to do so right in your own backyard. If something more exotic appeals to you, there are some great summer spots outside the state that are cool in more ways than one.
