While there are a number of things to do in Phoenix any time of the year, there are a few things you’re going to miss out on if you don’t hit them up in the next few weeks:

The Desert Botanical Garden: Corks and Cactus – This event at the botanical gardens in Phoenix may seem a little pricey at $80, but if you order tickets before September 14th, you’ll get $10 off the admission price. This event on September 26th starting at 6:30pm is worth every penny. Guests can sample over 70 wines and snack on hors d’oeuvres and desserts. Plus it’s for a good cause with proceeds from wine purchases benefiting the gardens.

Movies at the Museum – If you’re looking for something less expensive and more artsy, then head over to the Phoenix Art Museum and catch a movie for free. Movies run through October, but if you want to catch classic movies like Bettina, Barabarella, and Love Potion #9, then head to the museum on September 16th, 21st and 28th. It’s first come, first seated so be sure to show up early. And, if you’re interested, stick around for some thought provoking discussions after the movie.

Exploring local parks – If you haven’t taken the time to check out the natural scenery around the city of Phoenix, the next few weeks are a great time to remedy that now that the summer heat isn’t over 110 degrees. Take a drive to South Mountain or check out Pima Canyon. There is a world of wonder waiting for you just a short car drive away.

Life in a Cold Place – If the summer heat still has you beat in the deserts of Arizona, head over to the Heard Museum in Phoenix for some chilly education. This exhibit on Arctic Art from the Albrecht Collection offers a peak at what it’s like to survive -75 degree winters and 24 hour sunlight in the summers. Admission is only $10 for adults and $3 for children. This exhibit is only running through September, so you want stop by soon before it’s too late. While you’re at the museum also check out some of the other exhibitions going on.

From special exhibits and events to natural wonders, you won’t run out of sights to take in over these last few weeks of summer. Just take a look outside your door and you’re soon to discover why so many people love calling Phoenix home.
